What is the difference between a line and wrinkle treatment and a dermal filler?

The line and wrinkle injectable, widely known as Botox, available at The Harley Medical Group relaxes the muscle under the skin to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles which have developed as the collagen has been worn away.

A Dermal Filler is a temporary volumiser injected into the skin that will fill facial lines and wrinkles, enhance lips and create facial contouring e.g. to the cheeks or nose and revitalise the skin.

Dermal fillers are used on lines and wrinkles that remain present on the skin when the muscle underneath is relaxed with Botox.

Dermal Fillers are a fluid form of Hyaluronic Acid which is a protein found between the cells of all living organisms and is a component of Collagen. As we age our body produces less of this acid which contributes to the ageing process with the appearance of dry and thinner skin.

About dermal fillers

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance within the body which is found the deep layers of the skin known as the dermis, and one of its functions is to keep skin smooth and healthy by helping it retain water. As we age our body’s production of hyaluronic acid gradually declines, resulting in visible signs of ageing. Natural lines and wrinkles deepen; lips lose their fullness; lines appearing around the mouth and nose area, and cheeks lose volume giving them a sunken and hollow appearance.

Dermal Fillers are a manmade, non-animal, substance that mimics the body’s natural depleted hyaluronic acid. Once injected the fillers provide support and structure to the skin, giving a plumped and youthful appearance. The semi-permanent fillers provide safe, long-lasting and natural looking results.

There are many dermal fillers on the market that are substandard in terms of ingredients and quality. At The Harley Medical Group we only use the most advanced temporary dermal filler range with available: Juvederm Ultra; Juvederm Volift, Juvederm Volbella and Juvederm Voluma. Most importantly, we only allow qualified and certified doctors and nurses to inject fillers.

How many harmony laser treatments do I need for hair removal?

The pulse of the hair removal only affects hair follicles that are producing hair at the time of the treatment. All follicles must be at the growth phase before they can be effectively treated. This means that treatment must be repeated until all hair follicles have passed through the growing phase.Of course everyone is an individual but generally it can take up a 6 month period with 6 treatments needed.

How long does a harmony laser treatment take?

The Harmony Laser removes a large amount of hair at the same time. However, depending upon the area that needs treating, this will determine how long the session lasts. This will be discussed in a consultation beforehand.

What is harmony laser and how does it work?

Harmony Laser uses florescent lights which removes unwanted hair. During the process, Melanin will absorb the light, and the hair transmits the heat into the follicle. This results in dead hair follicles without damage to the epidermis.
